BOLD DAY 2 ❤️‍🔥

Hey Family,

Yesterday, we kicked off our week with the word BOLD, meaning: showing an ability to take risks; confident and courageous; fearless in front of danger. You can read all of Day 1 here.

Tonight, we’re going to dive deeper into scripture about why we should be bold in sharing the Gospel (The Good News).

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” - Matthew 28:19

This is a direct assignment from the risen Jesus Christ Himself to His disciples (students), soon to be apostles (sent out ones). This assignment would later become known as ‘The Great Commission.’ Here are the other Gospel writer’s accounts of the same message.

Mark 16:15 - “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”

Luke 24:47 - “and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name (Jesus speaking of Himself as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy) to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.”

John 20:21 - “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”

Acts (written by Luke) 1:8 - “and you shall be witnesses to Me in Je

rusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth”

Many of us simply don’t believe that this assignment applies to us! We have been deceived into thinking that sharing the Gospel is reserved for Christian missionaries, pastors, Sunday school teachers, and the like.

In response to this, let’s use Matthew’s account and take a look at the word nation.

In Greek, the word nation is ethnos, meaning a multitude associated or living together; a company, troop, or swarm. A multitude can also mean a mass of ordinary people without power or influence (from Oxford dictionary).

So in addition to the countries we think of when we hear the word nation, according to the above definitions, groups of people that are associated together, qualify as nations. This means our families, workplaces, college campuses, associations, organizations, and more are all considered nations.

Let’s get a clearer understanding of the term disciples.

According to the definition of the Greek word matheteuo, to be a disciple of someone means to follow that person’s precepts and instructions (in this case, Jesus’). To make a disciple means to teach or instruct (in this case, in the ways Jesus has instructed us).

Now let's define preach from Mark and Luke's accounts.

One definition has to do with being a ‘herald’ (an official messenger), this is probably the category that most pastors and preachers would fall into. They have been ordained in that specific office to be a formal, authoritative voice.

The other definition of preach is: to publish, proclaim openly: something which has been done.

Ah, so, you meant to tell me that when I openly post about Jesus on social media, I’m preaching? According to the definition, yes!

One more thing to note: The way we live our lives should be a testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ. Sometimes, it’s not always what we say, it’s how we conduct ourselves. As Philippians 1:27 says, above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.

We should not be staying silent about what Jesus has done for us. And we don’t need a large platform to share His goodness. If we truly believe in the power, authority, and reign of our Lord and Savior, we will testify about Him. His healing, love, mercy, restoration, all of it!

We don’t have to prepare a sermon, have a 20 scripture exegesis prepared, or force people to agree with us. Within our daily conversations and encounters, we should be sensitive to the needs of others. Remember what Jesus has done for you, and think of those out there who are in need of the very same thing.

As Romans 10:14 says, how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

So, family, let’s make it our responsibility to commit to bringing Jesus with us everywhere we go. My prayer is that we align ourselves with the word of God in 2 Timothy 1:7, knowing that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self control.

That's all for now. See you tomorrow for Day 3!
